Aithérios explores the notion of ethereality as seen through the transformation of our thoughts and memories.
Thoughts that emerge from our foggy inner state coalesce and become concrete by our minds. At the same time, memories that were once so tangible to us fade into the recesses before their eventual oblivion. Thoughts and memories share an intimacy within the labyrinth of the mind, sometimes they work together to cover ground beyond the horizon of what is understandable.

For millennia, cultures around the world have been fascinated by the movement of the sun.  A key element in 20th century modernist architecture were these 'brise soleil', an architectural technique used to minimize direct sunlight into the building while allowing the sky's indirect light.

“Maybe B&W” is a project based on the Genuary 2023 prompt “Black and White”. This code was specifically designed to have a 1 in 24 chance to deliver a B&W output. Since there will only be 32 pieces in this release, somebody will 'maybe' get a B&W. Will that piece be more desirable because of the odds?

When we hear the word ‘maybe’, there’s a dissonance between its linguistic meaning and what our emotions register. We are usually optimistic and hold onto that feeling, boosting our dopamine levels. But when that ‘maybe’ doesn’t happen (and probably it won’t happen), disappointment kicks in hard.  As Dr. Sapolsky says "nothing fuels dopamine like 'maybe'...".


Long-form generative art collectors have been dealing with surprise and disappointment a lot lately, which is also mirrored in our daily lives: “Maybe I get that B&W”, “Maybe it will sell out today”, “Maybe I’ll get a seven on this roll”, “Maybe I’ll get better with this medicine”, “Maybe she’ll come back”, “Maybe he will change”...

“Maybe B&W” is not about shapes and composition.  All the pieces are laid out identically with the same shape, size, orientation, and position. “Maybe B&W” is not about color or its lack of either. “Maybe B&W” is about surprise and disappointment.

Disclaimer: At least one B&W on black background and another B&W on white background should be minted.  If the project is minted out without at least one of each, then another round of 32 pieces will be released.

Inspired by the Soft Hair theory developed by Stephen Hawking, Sasha Haco, Malcolm J. Perry, and Andrew Strominger, this piece challenges us to think differently about computers and networks. Instead of just seeing them as tools or systems, the artist shows us how they can also capture the messy, wonderful aspects of human emotion.

The artwork is asking us to consider the powerful forces in the universe—like gravity—and how they might relate to our own lives and relationships. It’s a meeting point for exploring big scientific ideas and the deeply personal emotions that make us human.  'Attraction Paradox' invites us to look at the world in a more connected way, where even things that seem totally different can share a deep, underlying bond.
