"View to nothingness" is a series created between 2008 and 2012, bringing together 36 chemical paintings made on instant photographic films. The creation process of each one of them takes into account the randomness in the generation of camera-less images, where the artist only controls the beginning and the end of the chemical reaction of an alkaline developing liquid with the two bases that make up this type of material, among other variables of the medium itself such as time, light incidence, ambient temperature, and atmospheric pressure. The NFTs minted in 2023 function as permanent records of the high-resolution files and control of copies. The originals are pegged to the tokens at first sale, and token ownership grants discounts on the purchase of signed large-format prints. VIEW TO NOTHINGNESS (2008-2012)

"From nothing to pre-existing" is a series by Pedro Victor Brandão depicting different stages of chemical paintings created without planning with expired instant films.The works were created in between 2006 and 2008, and minting them dynamically in 2023 is a way to create a permanent record of all the 104 files that form the 6 compositions. The description of the works contain IPFS links to full-screen viewing, and also to downloading the full resolution files ready to print.

While the tokens are unique, acting as a digital proof of the series, the metadata contained by them also works as a record of available physical prints from an edition of 5 though occasional updates. Token owners are granted with negotiable discounts on the purchase of physical editions, a courtesy of Portas Vilaseca Galeria (Rio de Janeiro).

CLOUD, CONTINENT, ISLAND (2010)

Cloud, Continent, Island is a series created with a script run on raw image files to extract sequential frames with a high-contrast curve. Initially made as prints in 2010, these works can be seen as landscape studies that expand the boundaries of the photographic medium, from sky to earth without passing through a horizon line. Compositions #3 to #7 used the script outputs as 4K short films, and are part of More Abstract, a solo show presented at Portas Vilaseca.

The "Suggestions" set from "Detremura" series was commissioned for the exhibition "Non-Fungible Castle 2022: Preserving Culture On The Blockchain", curated by Jake Al-Haffar at the Lobkowicz Palace in Prague, Czech Republic, from October 27 to November 13, 2022.

The set features nine 10-minute videos showing the never-ending content recommendation feed from Instagram’s “search” tab across cities located in different macro-regions of the world. For each one of the cities the artist created a blank account and made screencaptures while accessing the platform with geo-spoofed locations and IP redirects.

Each film is minted as an NFT, and during the exhibition, viewers see all of them side-by-side in a single track.
