FAUCET (2023)
"Faucet" is a set of interactive sculptures created in 2023, part of the ongoing series "Prepared Screen" (2012-), through which cellulose elements are placed on top of a television that emits white light.
Polarizing filters are made available so that visitors can interact with these materials in a demonstration of cross-polarization, an optical phenomenon that occurs when the direction of the light's electric field changes when interacting with certain surfaces.

After minting his first (non-AI) NFTs in January 2021, he connected with Patrick Hoepner and Jordan Meyer at WolfBear Studio (who specialized in creating custom software for artists including Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst) and began creating and minting his first audiovisual AI art.
After seeing what these tools made possible, Glassface was eager to share the experience with others. With his multidisciplinary background he understood the importance of artists having access to good tools, and saw the potential for AI art tools to empower creatives. It was in this spirit that he created Impermanent Digital, an NFT project with the goal of introducing AI art to as many people as possible.

"Faucet #1" was part of "More Abstract", presented at Portas Vilaseca.
Whenever a "Faucet" is on view, photographic records are made documenting the public's interaction with the work, which are then minted as semi-fungible tokens in the ERC-1155 standard that can be collected for free.

"View to nothingness" is a series created between 2008 and 2012, bringing together 36 chemical paintings made on instant photographic films. The creation process of each one of them takes into account the randomness in the generation of camera-less images, where the artist only controls the beginning and the end of the chemical reaction of an alkaline developing liquid with the two bases that make up this type of material, among other variables of the medium itself such as time, light incidence, ambient temperature, and atmospheric pressure. The NFTs minted in 2023 function as permanent records of the high-resolution files and control of copies. The originals are pegged to the tokens at first sale, and token ownership grants discounts on the purchase of signed large-format prints. The complete series is part of the solo show More Abstract, at Portas Vilaseca.

Autoglyphs
in
miniature
I've long admired Autoglyphs, and credit the series for opening my eyes to the power of the blockchain in solving provenance of digital objects. I also noticed early on that, unlike most other artwork, the bigger the image the less captivating it was aesthetically. The closer you look at each Glyph, the closer you get to peaking behind the curtain. Each stroke literally being the on chain instructions. But if you zoom out or step back, the lines and shapes bunch together, moire like patterns start to appear and the image is revealed.
