This piece is the first Dank Pepe Dynamic & Interactive Pepe.
From the start, Anton and me, we stated PLRL as an artistic playground, a project where we could have fun creating art that is different from what we usually create and pushing its boundaries.
We've had the idea of creating a dynamic Pepe NFT for some time. The idea, as it always does, came from a silly convo we had by night: creating an interactive NFT that holders could pass with their frens to unlock some more art. Some Dank Pepe Friendship Bracelet if you will.
Using Cheech as a reference was a no brainer. For those who aren't familiar with it, "Cheech and Chong" was a comedy duo that rose to fame in the 1970s and became emblematic of the counter-culture movement of that era. They were known for their irreverent humor & their portrayals of stoners & drug culture, which challenged traditional societal norms and values.
They were seen as subversive and anti-establishment, which appealed to young people who were disillusioned with mainstream culture. In the same way, the NFT space can be seen as a counter-culture movement of sorts. It challenges traditional concepts of ownership and value by allowing for the creation and exchange of unique digital assets.
We've decided to create some sort of comic strip containing 9 images. Each one would be unlocked each time the NFT is transferred/sold. Holders still have access to all the previous images as the NFT is interactive: when you click on it, it opens a gallery with all the pieces.
To us, it's a milestone and a door that opens possibilities, pushing creation way further. Click on the piece to reveal all the images!
