The Merge - Vitalik Buterin Tribute

A tribute to Vitalik Buterin and The Merge on Ethereum Mainnet commencing on September 14th, 2022

The Merge represents the joining of the existing execution layer of Ethereum (the Mainnet we use today) with its new proof-of-stake consensus layer, the Beacon Chain. It eliminates the need for energy-intensive mining and instead secures the network using staked ETH. A truly exciting step in realizing the Ethereum vision – more scalability, security, and sustainability.

"From nothing to pre-existing" is a series by Pedro Victor Brandão depicting different stages of chemical paintings created without planning with expired instant films.The works were created in between 2006 and 2008, and minting them dynamically in 2023 is a way to create a permanent record of all the 104 files that form the 6 compositions. The description of the works contain IPFS links to full-screen viewing, and also to downloading the full resolution files ready to print.

While the tokens are unique, acting as a digital proof of the series, the metadata contained by them also works as a record of available physical prints from an edition of 5 though occasional updates. Token owners are granted with negotiable discounts on the purchase of physical editions, a courtesy of Portas Vilaseca Galeria (Rio de Janeiro).

How multidisciplinary artist Glassface created one of the earliest AI art PFPs, the first "text-to-mint" Discord bots, and the conceptually ambitious multi-artist collaboration known as iDreamer

In early 2021, Glassface was already a successful musician and producer, director and editor of music videos for major recording artists, commercial director and VFX artist for major brands. But when he first heard about NFTs in late 2020 he immediately understood their potential to empower artists.

After minting his first (non-AI) NFTs in January 2021, he connected with Patrick Hoepner and Jordan Meyer at WolfBear Studio (who specialized in creating custom software for artists including Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst) and began creating and minting his first audiovisual AI art.

After seeing what these tools made possible, Glassface was eager to share the experience with others. With his multidisciplinary background he understood the importance of artists having access to good tools, and saw the potential for AI art tools to empower creatives. It was in this spirit that he created Impermanent Digital, an NFT project with the goal of introducing AI art to as many people as possible.
