"Screens have been at the heart of art mass production and mass consumption for ages. From screen printing techniques, first developed in China around 1000AD and later popularized in western art culture by e.g. Andy Warhol, to the screens on our devices used to consume both digital art as well as most traditional art we experience in our life.

The "Screens" series is a celebration of modern art. It is inspired by the aesthetics inherent in screen printing along with the compositions and colors of both Bauhaus, Constructivism, and pulp fiction sci-fi covers.

The compositions in "Screens" is based purely on strict geometries and plays with the tension, and symphonies that can be created from combining simple rules. The end result can range from chaotic non-figurative to strongly ordered isometric scenes." - Thomas Lin Pederson

DecuratorCouncil

I would like to nominate @Collectors_Corner, ourselves. We are @astamcloud and @j_poz. We bring a unique perspective to the Decurator Council because our mission is to expand the reach of gen art through the organization and sharing of information.

As @astamcloud and @j_poz we create galleries simply for the sake of beauty, so we also understand the pure user / curator mindset as well. As @Collectors_Corner we look at Deca galleries and curation from a different lens - we create galleries to further our mission to help people learn about NFT art, which lowers the friction / uncertainty in collecting and as a result on-boards new people to digital art. In pursuit of our mission we learned how to show beautiful art while communicating info collectors need to make purchases. If nominated we would bring this perspective.

We recognize that not all galleries need to be informative, but we truly believe that many can be gorgeous (works of art in their own right) AND help viewers learn about stunning art. Even small tweaks can have meaningful impacts. We aren't dogmatic in requiring all curators conform to some set of "educational standards", but rather we have an eye for galleries that balance beauty with learning, adding extra utility.

We believe that our presence would bring a unique perspective to the council given our mission and how that has driven us to gain distinct expertise. We know how to communicate critical info while helping people feel understand and believe that art is beauty. We are confident our presence on the council would help further our shared mission of bringing millions to digital art.

Thanks for your consideration.

Fontana by Harvey Rayner

With Special Guest: Harvey Rayner

Collection released: Oct 5, 2022 Collection size: 500 Platform: Artblocks - Curated

"This project is a playful attempt at abstractly capturing the flowing movement of a fountain using precisely drawn elements that evoke a static and considered rendering of a subject that is in constant flux. The visual language is reminiscent of hand-draughted technical drawing, a precise and methodical practice that progresses at a radically different pace to the flowing and capricious movement of water. To increase this tension between dynamic motion and static mechanical process I wanted the surface textures to appear worn and aged like a drawing that has spent its life in the bottom of a mechanics drawer. This process of abrasion and discoloration is occurring on yet another scale of time adding complexity to the references of time passing. Woven into the very fabric of Fontana is a fully generative solution for creating color expression. This means there is no reliance on preset palettes with every output being an entirely unique color articulation of the color story I want the project to reveal as a whole. Far from being random I attempted to create an approach which produces colors that evoke early 20th Century art and design media. With this intention I wanted outputs to look like they could be working drawing artifacts from this period of time." - Harvey Rayner

Category: Composition

Each Fontana has a "source" from which the shapes radially emerge, similar to a Fountain (for which Fontana is named).

When the Composition is Adjacent, there are two sources opposing each other in the piece, creating a rift where their radial elements meet.

With the Single Composition, a single source centralized to the piece emerges.

The Free Composition results in any possibility, and the source is often not central to the piece.

The Cascade composition has 3 sources that overlap and create brilliantly busy outputs.
